If there’s one thing that you can be sure of when a mate visits Bondi, it’s that there will be Insty shots. There are so many shots to be taken, some amazing and some that no amount of filters can save. To make sure that your followers get the ultimate preview of Bondi, here are five shots that you should take when you’re here.
The Grassy Knoll
While the waves are sick, taking a shot of your legs looking out at the ocean doesn’t capture what makes #BondiBeach special. Don’t play a game of hotdogs or legs. Walk on up to the north side of the beach and take a great shot overlooking the whole scene.
The Coastal Walk (yoga optional)
No, we get it. The beach is awesome. Do you know what is also cool about Bondi? It’s a short and scenic stroll from two other beaches. The coastal walk to Bronte (or Coogee if you’re ambitious) has some of Sydney’s most stunning views as you look back and out to the ocean. If you’re heaps good at yoga, throw some warrior pose or a handstand on these cliffs and your followers will be double-tapping your pic faster than they did when they saw Saint West for the first time.
“Being happy is something you have to work at and I’ve always found that for myself and I think the world has a lot of horror, you know, senselessness, violence and terrible things in the world, but you can either curl up into a ball or you can… figure out a way to deal with it. And I think so much of it is what your outlook is, what you decide to focus on and what you place importance on. I try to keep it positive.” A photo posted by Caroline Høgh Groth (@carolinehgroth) on
Food/View + Bondi Scenery
Hey, I love #foodporn as much as the next chump. While I highly encourage you to take all of the vertical plate shots that your hungry heart desires, you want to up your game a bit when you’re Bondi’ing. Pick a spot with some iconic Bondi scenery and take a context shot. If you catch a good pic of your brew/food with a couple of surfers walking by = *like-bomb explosion*.
Surfing Shot
It doesn’t matter if you’re a GoPro veteran surfer or a kook fresh on the scene. Get your boardshorts on. Go catch a wave. Take pictures. Good options include during your surf and after you’re done. Both say, “Hey, I totally went surfing in Bondi today.” That’s much better than, “Look at how I can hold this surfboard on the beach.” *If you don’t know what you’re doing, Go see our mates at Let’s Go Surfing or the next selfie you might take will be from the ambulance.

Icebergs
If you’re visiting Bondi, you’re going to stop by Icebergs. If you want the coolest shot, we recommend going there for dinner or going down to the pool and take the ‘wave splash’ shot. It’s a cool picture and you’re friends might enjoy the cringe face as the cold water hits you.
There are so many things to enjoy in Bondi. While you’re going to want to take pictures, don’t forget to live the story more than you document it. Few great stories begin with, “So there I was trying to get the perfect selfie…”
