Delivered Massages Are Now A Thing

Jul 26, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Niall Roeder.

Massages make you happier; this is a scientific, mathematical and philosophical fact. If you’ve had a massage before, you’re enlightened and you already know this. If you haven’t had a massage before, to say that you’ve been missing out is an understatement. Massages relieve stress, improve flexibility and sleep, help manage pain and recovery, but most all massages are relaxing AF. And relaxation should be a priority in life, especially when on holiday.

Gone are the days that you have to actually move to get stuff done. This is the future and the future is delivery. Home delivered is easy and will be getting easier – soon pizzas will hover through the front door strapped to a drone and selfie sticks will be spat our by 3D printers (which technically is home delivered), but what about other services? If I want a massage, I want it here… wherever here may be. That’s where Blys comes in.

Blys (pronounced “Bliss”) is like Uber, for massages… and before you ask, no, it’s not getting a rub down on a backseat. They’re a squad of very strong-handed and very certified massage therapists that come to you. It’s pretty simple; book in an appointment on your phone, ipad or laptop and in as little as an hour you’ll be getting a Swedish/relaxation, remedial/deep tissue, sports or pregnancy rubdown in your hotel room or home. How bloody good.

We caught up with Ilter Dumduz, from Blys, to learn a little more…

Delivered massages – it’s one of those genius, why-didn’t-I-think-of-that kind of ideas. How did Blys come to fruition?

Everyone loves a massage – but we rarely have it. Typically it would be on some special occasion like your birthday. We started wondering what was stopping us from having massages on a more regular basis.

After lots of in depth “research” (massages… heaps of massages), we quickly realised the process of finding and booking a good therapist was painful, and thought how cool it’d be to book a massage like you would book an Uber. We haven’t stopped working on that idea since then.

Talk us through the most popular type of Blys’ massage?

The relaxation massage, aka the Swedish massage. This is the perfect de-stress, for those wanting to unwind after a big week at work or at home. Couples massage is becoming very popular too – especially amongst couples with kids. As a parent who juggles a full-time work and two little monsters at home, I know how difficult (yet desperately needed) it is to have some downtime. So we see a lot of couples with kids booking a back-to-back couples massage where one therapist treats each partner one after the other.
